Between Beach 745 and Palmer Point is a 7 km section of coast that runs around the base of a 500 m high spur of the Malbon Thompson Range. Near-continuous beaches, interrupted by granite outcrops and small headlands, fringe the spur. All five beaches are composed of coarse granitic sand and all have steep high tide beaches, with 30 to 50 m wide low tide bars. What differentiates the beaches is their integrity between the rocks, their orientation and degree of rock outcrop along the beach. There is no land access to any of the beaches and no facilities, although some are used for fishing camps. Beach 747 is a more east facing beach, being located on the south side of a turn in the spur.
