Seventy Five Mile Beach, while essentially continuous, can be divided into seven sections based on local names and characteristics. The first is 14 km long Corroboree beach (FR8A) that runs south from Indian Head, past Akuna Creek to Wyuna Creek, both small, freshwater creeks draining the backing high dunes. The beach is backed by bare sand sheets for the first several kilometres, however the remainder, like most of Seventy Five Mile Beach, is backed by scarped Pleistocene dunes that range in height, up to 100 m, providing a dramatic backdrop to the beach and surf (Fig. 4.101). The beach is composed of fine sand and has a low gradient, ideal for vehicle traffic. It is fronted by a continuous inner and outer bar system, with rips cutting across the inner bar every 200 m and more widely spaced rips on the outer bar.
Beach Length: 14km
