On the north side of Bale Hill, just east of the McKenzie Creek mouth, is a narrow strip of sand running in a north-facing arc for 700 m along the foot of the hill. It is very protected and fronted by shallow tidal flats. There is private road access to the western McKenzie Creek end, but no public access other than boat.
