Croome Creek forms the southern end of Moore Park Beach. Between the creek and the large Burnett River mouth, 8 km to the east, is a low lying, dynamic section of shore that is variously eroding and building out in response to migration of a large sand spit called Barubbra Island; which in turn is influenced by floodwaters and sand delivered by the Burnett River. Croome Creek beach (1493) is a north-north-east facing, 4 km long strip of sand that consists of a low beach with no foredune, while a continuous, 50 to 100 m wide bar fronts the beach. The beach is often narrow and eroding, with the backing mangroves visible from the shoreline. It ends at the mouth of Welcome Creek.
