Hook Point is the northern entrance to the 1 km wide Wide Bay Harbour channel. It curves around to face south across the channel to Inskip Point on the mainland. A vehicle ferry crosses the channel from Inskip Point to Hook Point, delivering a regular flow of 4WDs and visitors to the southern tip of the island. As the 6.5 km long beach (FR10) runs into the channel, it is increasingly protected from waves. As a result, it has a steep reflective beach face with no bar. This permits the ferry to pull right up to the beach to transfer vehicles to and from the island.
Beach Length: 6.5km
General Hazard Rating: 4/10
