Beach WA 853 is a 200 m long strip of sand adjacent to Hale St. It commences in a pocket on the south side of the marine laboratory and continues along the base of the bluffs in front of the lab. It is a narrow beach, almost awash at high tide, with rocks and reefs paralleling the shoreline.
