Hillarys Boat Harbour was constructed across the northern end of Sorrento beach during the 1980’s. The harbour occupies 800 m of the former beach and is bounded by two attached breakwaters that extends up to 800 m seaward and enclosing a protected 25 ha small boat harbour, together with numerous boat, commercial and car parking facilities around the perimeter (Fig. 4.210). While the harbour is dominated by jetties and moored boats, two beaches (WA 860 & 861) were constructed, specifically as recreational beaches, at the eastern extremity of the harbour. The southern beach (WA 860) extends for 200 m between the southern car park and a central 50 m long circular seawall that separates the two beaches. The beach is backed by commercial operations then a grassy reserve
