Outer reefs however lower waves to less than 1 m, which usually maintain reflective beach conditions the length of the long beach. The entire beach is backed by predominately vegetated transgressive dunes rising in places to 50 m and extending 3-4 km inland. A few active blowout-parabolics back the central section of the beach and at least three 4 WD tracks reach the beach.
