Beach WA 1079 borders the southwestern side of the dunes from the northern end of beach WA 1078 to the westernmost tip of the dune field, a distance of 1.5 km. The beach consists of a strip of high tide sand fringed by continuous 50-100 m wide intertidal calcarenite platform with reef further out. Higher waves break over the reefs, with low waves at the shore. It is backed by a generally vegetated foredune, then the dune field
