Beach WA 1538 is a 2 km long northwest-facing slightly curving section of sandy shore that forms the northern shore of the 4 km long Point Edgar-Point Billie foreland. It is sheltered by barrier reefs, which extend 1 km off the southern end and 2 km off the north end, with a shallow sandy-reef filled lagoon in between. The beach is backed by a foredune ridge plain, which widens to 400 m in the centre and contains up to 8 ridges, then the rear of the vegetated transgressive dunes that have originated from Norwegian Bay to the south. It is separated from the main bay beach by a convex 300 m long low sandy point, fringed by reef and beachrock.
