Boranup Beach (WA 643) is one of the longer more continuous beaches in the national park. It commences at Hamelin Bay in lee of White Cliff Point and its numerous reefs, as a low energy reflective beach (Fig. 4.132), and trends north for 7.8 km to the southern rocks of North Point. Wave energy increases rapidly up the beach averaging 1-1.5 m and maintaining a rip-dominated bar that widens to 100 m in the north. The bar can produce some good beach breaks under the right conditions. The beach is backed by a series of mostly stable longwalled parabolics extending up to 4 km to the west and include the partly active Boranup Sand Patch, which reaches a height of 120 m near the Caves Road. At Hamelin Bay there is a large car park, caravan park, boat ramp and the remains of the old jetty. A 4 WD track from the Boranup camping area leads down to the northern section of the beach. read more
