Swimming in not advised at this beach beach due to the dangerous conditions. South of Dune Rocks are 1.5 km of rock-dominated shore that end at 40 km high Point Lookout. There are three beaches along this section; the longer Frenchmans Bay, backed by 50 to 70 m high bluffs, and two small, rock-bound beaches located in gorges in the cliff face. Frenchmans Bay beach (1585) faces due east, receiving a little protection from the prevailing south-east waves from Point Lookout, which protrudes 500 m toward the south-east. The beach is 500 m long and is backed by steep, densely vegetated bluffs rising to 70 m, along the crest of which is the main road to the point and main beach. Access to the beach is either around Dune Rocks from Deadmans Beach, or down steep walking tracks from the main road. The beach receives waves averaging between 1 and 1.5 m, which maintain an inner bar usually cut by two rips, including a permanent rip against Dune Rocks. At Dune Rocks, sand blows off the beach and across the point to the back of Deadmans Beach.
Beach Length: 0.5km
