Bayley Point is a low right angle inflection in the shore in lee of Bayley Island with the larger Forsyth and Mornington islands located 10 and 30 km offshore respectively. The point is composed of Holocene calcarenite that extends up to 500 m off the beach. It forms the eastern boundary of east-facing 600 m long beach Q 17, whose barrier extends 3 km to the west, much of it fronted by a wide band of mangroves and subtidal mudflats.
