Cudgera Beach (NSW 8) is 2.9 km long and runs south-southwest from Hastings Point to the entrance walls of Mooball Creek, at Potts Point. The beach forms the seaward side of a 200-500 m wide sand barrier backed by Cudgera Creek, which terminates in a 100 ha wetland in lee of the southern end of the beach. The northern section of the barrier is a reserve and remains covered in dune vegetation, while the southern third has been developed for housing, where it is fronted by a densely vegetated foredune. The entire beach has a double bar system, well exposed to all waves. Rips dominate the attached inner bar and outer bar, with strong longshore currents in the intervening trough. The beach is readily accessible in the north from the Hastings Point car park, which also provides a good view down the beach. In the south limited access and parking is provided in the residential area, together with a 4WD access through the dune, where the patrolled area is also located.
Beach Length: 2.925km
