On the south side Stokes Island is a 300 m long beach (NSW 480) that faces due south and may or may not be attached to the island. It usually has an attached bar with a central rip and rocks at either end of the beach. Just past the southern rocks is 370 m long southeast-facing Sunburnt Beach (NSW 481) that continues south to Termeil Point. It receives slightly higher waves and usually has permanent rips against the boundary rocks, and a shifting central rip cutting the attached bar. These beaches can be accessed from the Sunburnt and Termeil Point car parks, with walk-in camping also behind Sunburnt Beach.
