Valla Headland consists of three rocky outcrops, backed by 20 m high bluffs, with a narrow 425 m long beach in between, the beach (NSW 121) often cut into two sections. The beach receives some protection from the rocks particularly toward the southern sandy point and reef. It usually has a steep beach, with an attached bar, while under higher waves rips cut across the surf, particularly against the rocks. In addition rocks occur in the surf zone.
