Hunter Bay is an 800 m wide east-facing bay, bordered by rocky shore, with a central Rocky Point separating the two Balmoral beaches (SH 20 & 21). Edwards Beach (SH 20) is the northern of the two beaches. It is a 430 m long east-facing beach running from Wy-ar-gine Point to the small bridge and sand connected Rocky Point. There is a rock pool at the northern end and a netted pool at the southern end, while boat landing is prohibited. The beach faces east out towards the Heads and while usually calm, does receive ocean swell during high seas which breaks along the shore. The southern half of the beach is backed by a shady foreshore reserve containing amenities, a kiosk, seawall and walkway. Access is via The Esplanade that runs behind Edwards and Balmoral beaches.
