The longer main Tilba Tilba Beach (NSW 616) curves to the southeast for 950 m to the usually blocked mouth of the lake, terminating against a cleared 10 m high headland. To the rear of the beach the high waves and southerly winds have generated sand dune activity extending up to 300 m inland, the southern most active sand dunes in NSW. The beach usually has permanent rips at each end and 2-3 central rips cutting the single bar.
