The Illaroo Rest Area provides vehicle access to the southern end of Sandon/Illaroo Beach, and after a short walk to the more protected Illaroo (south) beach (NSW 61). The 200 m long beach lies immediately south of the Illaroo rocks and in lee of Rocky Point. As a result it is moderately protected from waves resulting in a low gradient attached bar, fringed by rocks at either end.
