Red Cliff Beach (NSW 54) as the name implies is surrounded by bright 200 million year old red and black dipping shale beds and 20 m high cliffs. The beach is 200 m in length tucked in at the base of the cliffs and with extensive shore platforms at either end and prominent reefs in the surf. These conditions together with its exposure to most waves result in a hazardous surf zone, with both beach and reef/headland controlled permanent rips. Most popular with fishermen. A lookout is located on top of the cliffs with a camping area behind.
