Back Angourie, as the surfers call it, is where you go when the north easter blows up and blows out Angourie Point. Most board riders stick to the more accessible northern end, in lee of Angourie Point. The beach runs for 1.5 km down to Woody Bluff in the south. It faces the south east and receives the full force of the waves. The energetic waves and fine sand form a double bar system, the inner usually cut by 6 rips, then a deep trough and an outer bar with more widely spaced rips.
